We drove into New Orleans around 5:00 yesterday afternoon. We found the Lamothe House, where we're staying in the French Quarter, and moved in. Then we hit the streets for to grab dinner and get a feel for the neighborhood. We even had coffee and donuts at an old French place called Cafe du Monde. The snootiness is free of charge there, by the way. Actually, it's a very nice, laid-back place.
We walked back in the rain and slept well. There was a thunderstorm overnight, but the sky looks clear and the air is balmy. Now we're off to see what we can see.
