The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

We visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art this afternoon. Lots of Renaissance religious paintings, including a really cool one about the ascension of Jesus with only his feet and several gaping apostles in the frame. There were also many paintings by Monet, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Cezanne, Gauguin, Rousseau, Warhol, Close, and Johns, among others. Warhol's huge smirking, self-satisfied Mao was somewhat unsettling. We also saw 5,000 years of Japanese art, as well as a special exhibition on samurai artifacts. The museum has a lot of variety, as well as a lot of depth historically. We certainly could have spent more than two hours there; however, it was enough to look closely at some pieces and walk through other exhibitions. After all, it was our third major museum in two days.
